Egypt and Nigeria

The book of "Egypt and Nigeria" comes within the context of a series of books entitled “Egypt and Africa” issued on the occasion of Egypt's assumption of the presidency of the African Union. There is no doubt that there are unique and historic relations between Egypt and Nigeria that have been elaborated with the spread of Arabic language and Islam in the West African region in general. Late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, who supported the people of Nigeria until independence, had a legendary reception in his short stop in the State of Kano in 1965 as he wandered in its streets for many hours among the people.

At later stages, Egypt has contributed militarily and politically to preserving Nigeria's unity and stability in the face of secession attempts.
