Malta signs agreements with Algeria on health, plant protection

(Times of Malta) Malta and Algeria signed an agreement on veterinary health on Wednesday 19/12/2018, together with memoranda of understanding on the health and plant protection sectors.

The signing followed a bilateral meeting between Maltese foreign affairs minister Carmelo Abela and Algerian energy minister Mustapha Guitouni.

Mr Abela expressed his hope for further cooperation between the two countries, which he said the new agreements would facilitate, in areas such as health, agriculture, fisheries and the economy.

Malta and Algeria are currently co-presidents of the 5+5 Dialogue, a trans-Mediterranean cooperation initiative incorporating European and North African countries, the next meeting of which will take place in Malta in January.
