Morocco celebrates World Health Day

African Daily Voice

The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrated the World Health Day in the Moroccan capital Rabat on Monday.

Held under the theme “Primary health care: a path towards universal health coverage,” the ceremony commemorating this day was chaired by WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus and the Moroccan Prime Minister Saad Eddine El Othmani.

In a message to the participants, King Mohammed V of Morocco said primary health care is critical to achieving universal health coverage.

He stressed that this goal represents a challenge not just for health systems, but also for the funding of health insurance plans, for which solidarity-based health insurance mechanisms need to be adopted to cope with growing health risks and costs.
