Three framework agreements in veterinary medicine, aquaculture and fisheries and related training were concluded Thursday by Tunisia, Algeria, Libya and Mauritania at a meeting in Tunis of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) Ministerial Committee on Food Security, said the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.
The veterinary medicine agreement eyes scaled-up technical and scientific cooperation among specialised services in AMU countries.
The second framework agreement is intended to identify fields of fisheries and aquaculture cooperation between signatory countries and means to intensify partnership.
A cooperation agreement pertaining to training, agricultural extension and scientific research in fisheries and aquaculture was also signed.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Samir Taieb, Algeria's Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Abdelkader Bouazghi, Libyan Agriculture, Animal Resources and Marine Resources Minister Abu Bakr Mansouri, a representative of Mauritania and AMU Secretary-General Taïeb Baccouche.
