President El-Sisi Meets Bulgarian Prime Minister


President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Kiril Petkov, on the sidelines of his visit to the Belgian capital, Brussels.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the President welcomed the meeting with the Bulgarian prime minister, congratulating him on assuming his duties last December. The President confirmed the strength of relations between the two friendly countries and Egypt's keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields, particularly trade, tourism, industry and agriculture, to be commensurate with the political relations between the two countries, as well as within the framework of the European Union.

The Bulgarian prime minister affirmed his pleasure to meet with the President, stressing his country's keenness to develop and strengthen its relations with Egypt, as it represents a key pillar for the stability and security of the Middle East and the Mediterranean region, and its aspiration to continue coordination and consultation with Egypt through joint committees to develop aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries so as to contribute to achieving their interests.

The Spokesman added that the meeting reviewed ways to advance bilateral relations between the two countries, especially cooperation in the fields of defense, security and combating terrorism. This is in addition to the economic level, in light of the fact that Egypt is Bulgaria's largest trading partner in Africa and the Middle East, as well as Egyptian efforts to improve the business climate, encourage the private sector and attract foreign direct investment, also the opportunities offered by the major development projects being implemented, especially the Suez Canal Corridor and the New Administrative Capital.
